Welcome to Hook Island Eco Resort’s Moorings
The privately own moorings are available for a 24hr or 48hr hire (12noon to 12noon).
Please ensure you have booked and paid for your mooring as they are also used for commercial hire with vessels arriving late in the afternoon.
Each mooring has its respective mooring number from #1 to #12. Please ensure you match this with your selected option on this site.

Hook Passage Moorings
There are currently 12 new private mooring buoys installed and located in the Hook Passage.
Duration of stay
Mooring can be hired from 12noon to 12noon for a 24 or 48 hour period. The cost of the moorings is $40 per 24hrs.
Mooring types and sizes
There are three mooring types to choose from depending on your vessel length and tonnage. Please ensure you only use the size required as there are limited larger moorings.
Up to 15 meters in length and a maximum of 20 tonne.
Up to 25 meters in length and a maximum of 50 tonne.
Up to 35 meters in length and a maximum of 100 tonne
Inclusions
Please note that the cost includes mooring hire only.
Private Property – Please Note
There is strictly no access to the “Hook Island Eco Resort” private property, this is a privately owned leasehold that does not consent to public access.
National Parks Access
National park access – Adjacent is Whitsunday Island where you will find Cairn Beach access to the Whitsunday Cairn Track.
Journey through dry rainforest, open woodland, hoop pines, and groves of giant grass trees on this short, demanding hike from Cairn Beach. Emerge from rainforest onto a windswept, rocky outcrop below the imposing form of Whitsunday Cairn. Feel on top of the world gazing out at sensational views over the coastline and across to Hook Island. Have your camera ready—the images you’ll capture will be nothing short of amazing!

Terms and Conditions
Explore Whitsundays acts on behalf of ‘Hook Island Eco Resort’ to manage the bookings of these moorings. The owner or skipper of the vessel hiring these moorings accepts Terms and Conditions outlined below:
The Boat Owner assumes all risk and liability for and in respect of the use of the moorings and the use of equipment including but not limited to ropes, lines and tackle and for all loss, damage, injury or death caused to persons or property howsoever arising from the use of the facilities, the Vessel and its equipment. Notwithstanding whether or not the Boat Owner has affected insurance with respect thereof, the Boat Owner will indemnify and release the owner of the mooring against and from any claims or demands resulting from loss of or damage to the facilities, other property or persons howsoever caused.
In the event of sinking, the Boat Owner will be liable for all salvage costs, in addition to mooring fees whilst the boat remains in proximity attached or unattached above or below the waterline.
General Mooring Conditions
Permission to moor from the company does not give the right to the moorer to a particular mooring. The company reserve the right to move a particular boat from a mooring at any time in order to carry out its business, or if the vessel is causing a nuisance to another moorer as judged by the company.
All Moorers shall ensure that all authorised users of the boat do not cause annoyance or nuisance to other neighbours or the Marine Park users. It is the responsibility of all boat owners to ensure that their activities do not cause any noise, or nuisance to other users.
At all times moorers shall show consideration to other moorers.
Valid Licence & Insurance
It is a strict condition of these mooring conditions that all boats must have appropriate third-party liability insurance to $10,000,000.00 and must also cover salvage of the vessel.
The company reserve the right to terminate the mooring forthwith of any boat or moorer that fails to comply with these requirements.
Marine Park Conditions
Because the Moorings are within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, they must abide by all Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority conditions.
General
These Terms and Conditions cover the moorings at Hook Island Whitsundays Queensland.
The Moorings are owned by Hook Island Eco Resort Pty Ltd and operated by Explore Whitsunday whose registered office is 18 Commerce Close, Cannonvale, QLD 4802.
Definitions
The Company In these conditions and the booking agreement “The Company” shall be Hook Island Eco Resort Pty Ltd.
The Moorer
“The Moorer” shall be the person or persons named on the Mooring Application Form. In the event of more than one moorer they shall be individually responsible and liable under this agreement.
The Conditions means the conditions set out herein.
Moorings shall mean the supply of a Mooring at Hook Island (refer map).

The Boat Owner shall mean the registered owner or the person deemed to be in charge of the boat
Appropriate Mooring
It is the responsibility of the Boat Owner to ensure that the correct Mooring is booked such that the Boat Owners vessel does not exceed the capacity of the mooring.
Emergency Conditions
No vessel should be moored to a mooring if the Harbour Master has ordered a return to the port situation.
Damage
If the damage is caused as a result of your visit, the company reverses the right to on-charge the cost of repair to you.
