AIRLIE BEACH WEATHER

Whitsundays Weather: The Overview

What will the Whitsundays weather be like today or for my trip later in the week?

That’s a common question we get asked.

Generally, we can offer a reasonably accurate estimate based on years of looking skywards and reading a weather map. Sometimes we, like professional meteorologists, get it wrong. Always ask us when booking, and we’ll give you a good idea of what’s going to happen.

The Whitsundays weather in Summer is always the most diverse. Summer is our wet season. In January, February and March, our rainfall can be up to 600-700 mm’s. While that sounds a lot, it’s essential to know that often the rain falls at sunrise for around one or two hours. It rains hard and fast and then can dry up quickly. Often the rain is very welcome as is cools everything and everybody off.

Here on the mainland, we have the Conway ranges, 5000 hectares of rainforest that rise steeply behind Airlie Beach. Clouds can settle across the range all day and bring rain. At the same time, it can be sunny and dry in the Whitsunday Passage and Whitehaven Beach.

The Whitsunday weather in winter is simply amazing!

Dry, warm with blue skies. Whales are frolicking in the warm winter waters off the islands. Winter is a great time to enjoy the Whitsundays at its best. Walking the national park tracks is very popular from June through to October.

Any day spent enjoying the Whitsundays is better than being stuck in the office or at home.

This historical weather information supplied by Weatherzone will give you a better ideal of the changes in temperature and rainfall during the year.
