With over 100 white sand beaches, crystal clear waters and more kinds of corals than any other place in the world, these islands will leave you spellbound with each new vista you discover.

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between a catamaran and a yacht? Or which vessel best suits the style of trip you want to do? Or how long you should go to fully experience all the Whitsunday Islands have to offer?

If you’re planning your next sailing holiday, what you’ll read now could make all the difference.

Firstly it’s important to know that not all boats are the same and that taking some time to research your options will be worthwhile when you get onboard.

How To Choose Which Boat Is Right For You

Here are some common questions we get asked every day

This will help you choose a suitable vessel to ensure you get the unforgettable sailing holiday you desire:

  1. How many people do you want on your sailing holiday?
  2. How long do you what to go sailing?
  3. What style of accommodation would you prefer?
  4. Would you pay a little more for better quality food?
  5. Do you want to participate in the sailing activities?

Here are our answers:

Q1. Our smallest catamarans sail with eight guests overnight. Our tall ship Solway Lass sleeps up to thirty-two guests.

Q2. The quickest overnight sailing holiday is two days and one night. The most extended trips are six days and five nights. Last year we had a school excursion that hired Siska for 12 nights.

Q3. We have vessels like Whitsunday Blue and Getaway with private double cabins with ensuites through to British Defender that sleeps 28 guests in open planned bunks.

Q4. We pride ourselves on providing good quality local fare that is fresh and tastes great. We serve the best quality Salmon and Steaks cooked on the BBQ onboard on our highest quality vessels.

Q5. Help as much or as little as you like. Want to steer the yacht as your sailing? Please ask. Want to help set the sail? Our crew will explain how you can help and show you the fun of sailing. Prefer to sit back and relax without lifting a finger. We’ve got you covered!

Once you know the answers to these five questions, our friendly reservations team at Explore Whitsundays can help plan your sailing holiday.
